Atlantic Soul Quiz – Tribute Night

We played up north, well Blairgowrie to be exact, at the weekend on a 2 x spot tribute.  First one was “Tribute to Soul” and second one was “Tribute to 70s”.  It was an excellent night playing to an appreciative audience really into our music and show (thanks for all the drinks bought for us too!).

Thanks too to the hotel for making us so welcome.  They in fact made up a little quiz, unbeknownst to us, of which they left the quiz sheets on each table.  You had to complete the artist name from songs that Atlantic Soul performs regularly.  It’s a pity no-one from the hotel collected these in.  We only found out about it at the end of the night, when one particular completed quiz stood out.  Here in all it’s glory is a scanned version of it. Take a bow Ann Rudden of Room No 2. All correct, even though the spelling wasn’t 100%, but we won’t hold that against you.

Atlantic Soul are just about to launch their brand new, shiny and fabby dedicated wedding band website.  Launch date is Monday 30th May 2011 (bank holiday Monday) and we have got some absolutely wonderful things lined up to celebrate the launch.

Wedding First Dances

An excellent rehearsal last night. Sorting out some new wedding first dances and some strange, but good, ones in there. Jazz, soul and even a bit of Metallica (yes really!).

Love to get the old creative juices flowing - it was like a river last night.

If you have a weird or wonderful special song you would like for your first dance, don’t be scared to ask.

Feedback – Scottish Building Federation

Having just returned from a holiday in Australia, it was straight back to gigging, jetlag and all, on Friday for a corporate event at the Scottish Building Federation Gala Dinner in The Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews.  Everything was prepped well in advance of the day (as is always the case with Atlantic Soul) to facilitate the day itself to run smoothly which it did.  Early arrival and setup as always is the key to leave the way clear for getting our heads round the performance later in the evening after the gala dinner.

When it was time to take the stage, the audience looked a little subdued, but they were soon out of their seats and hitting the dancefloor, where they stayed for the rest of the evening.  Thanks to Shona and Steve who helped us out with a little dance routine in one of our numbers – great fun!

All in all, it was an excellent night and the feedback we received from a great number of the guests present was excellent.  The Chief Executive of the Scottish Building Federation, Michael Levack, even took time to make this comment into the band’s guestbook:-

Public Gig / Showcase – Sat 29 January 2011

We have arranged a gig that is open to the public on:-

Saturday 29th January 2011

This is so that brides and grooms interested in booking ASB for their wedding can come and see the band play live in the central Scotland area and free of charge.  It’s also a good time for our friends and relatives to come along too as all of our gigs are private so they don’t often get a chance to see us play live.

The public gig/showcase will be at:-

The Glen Lusset Bar, Old Kilpatrick (directly underneath the Erskine Bridge)

The show starts at 9pm and advise to be early to ensure you get a good seat.
